For those who love water activities, Harstad is a haven thanks to the many islands and beaches here. There is no better way to see the amazing landscape than paddling through the archipelago in a kayak.

Explore Harstad is well acquainted with the paddling routes in the region, and we are happy to give good advice for nice trips in the area. We are happy to give weather and wind-related advice before you set off on a kayak trip.

To rent a kayak, the person responsible must be at least 18 years old, and hold a wet license or be able to prove sufficient paddling experience. This will be investigated before the kayaks are delivered. The focus is on self- and camera rescue.

Along with the kayak, you also get oars and vests. If you have less experience with kayaking, you can sign up for our introductory course so that you can complete a safe paddling trip at your own pace after the course.

As a starting point, we only rent kayaks together with a safety package consisting of a dry suit, shoes, hood, gloves and waterproof bags. This is because the water temperature is also low in summer, and if you fall into the water you will quickly cool down.
